Managing KiwiSaver as a part of Remuneration

How can employers efficiently manage KiwiSaver as a part of their employee remuneration package?

  • Identify and communicate to all staff how KiwiSaver is a component of each salary / wage remuneration package
  • Consider including a reminder about KiwiSaver in annual salary reviews.  Existing staff can choose to opt-in at anytime and there are still many employees who have yet to join KiwiSaver.
  • Provide answers and / or clear direction to employees who ask questions about KiwiSaver.  If you have an intranet, provide links to to help staff learn more about retirement savings and their superannuation requirements.
  • For employers who have chosen a preferred KiwiSaver scheme - make time for an annual review with the scheme provider and discuss employee communications.
