The Reserve Bank of New Zealand’s most recent M10 housing report shows the value of New Zealand’s housing stock ncreased in the June quarter. An unusually high ratio does not in itself imply a nasty correction is imminent but it can certainly be a warning light.  More>

LVRs: 40pc may not be the end of the rules

Loan-to-value restrictions were officially introduced this week, limiting banks' ability to lend to property investors with less than 40% equity in the deal. BNZ chief economist Tony Alexander said the Reserve Bank will probably raise the minimum from 40% next year and implement restrictions on mortgage sizes as a multiple of household incomes of the borrowers.  More>
